The official FreeCAD homepage introduces it as: “Your own 3D parametric modeler.” FreeCAD is an open-source parametric 3D modeler made primarily to design real-life objects of any size. Parametric modeling lets you go back in history and change dimensions without redrawing from scratch.

From FreeCAD to the printer

  1. Design in Part Design (or import STEP)
  2. Export mesh as STL/OBJ
  3. Slice in your preferred slicer
  4. Or grab a ready model from Cut Stock 3D Printing when you need a head start
